My daughter used this book to help her prepare for the ACT test. She indicated that is was very helpful.
I didn't want another book filled with filler. So much blubber. It's a whale of a book with the quality of a lobster tale. Call me Nico. Most of the prep books I looked at reminded me of Moby Dick. The Principles and Strategies in this work are short, to the point, and written in an engaging style.
An easy read with great content. This prep book has principles that emphasize "reading for meaning". Close reading of text has always been a challenge for me. It seems that teachers just expect you to know how to do it without ever showing you. I even found myself laughing out loud at times.
Save that for your sweetheart. Buy this book now. As they say, you have to be unafraid to "Take the Shot." No mooncalfing. The tips made me think about different ways to approach the writing prompts. And the authors are pretty amusing considering the subject matter. This prep book actually has cartoons that are funny. But the good news is that the content has the potential to help you score higher on the writing section. No lollydolling.
I used this along with a class so I'm not sure what to attribute my reading score too. They had some useful tips, and it doesn't take long to complete. (I did very well in reading ;) )
